15 June - 15 July is ICT Month for Larut, Matang & Selama District 2009. Hopefully, all teachers ,pupils and even parents are aware of the importance of ICT knowledge. Thus, are interested to learn and improve on their computer skills. Teachers and pupils must grab the opportunity to learn theseskills and apply them effectively in the teaching & learning process.

With the introduction of Web 2.0 application it is hoped that both teachers and pupils are able to work as a team even from their own homes to complete a project. On top of the school computer laboratory, the cITaKU Lab run by facilitator, En Fadly Hadi from the NCER team provides ICT knowledge to both the teachers and pupils.

The ICT Camp from 1 to 12 June, 2009 has benefitted the Yr 4 and 5 pupils. These pupils have learnt to create emails, surf the websites for information, create greeting cards and their own blogs. Hope, the S.K. Selama ICT Team which is participating in the Anak Perak UPSI ICT Competition will gain a lot of new experience as its members venture into this new project. We believe in, " Nothing Venture, Nothing Gain".

In addition, it will relaunch the recyling campaign in school in order that pupils will use the recycle bins correctly. With the cooperation from the Art and Living Skills teachers, the pupils will be able to create beautiful posters and make handicrafts from recycled objects.

Then, only will the ICT Project entitled,"Waste Disposal AffectsThe Environment" be effective in raising awareness among all pupils in the school to play their role in keeping the environment clean. Thanks for your cooperation in making this ICT Month a great success.

22 June- The school launched its Recyling Campaign in a simple ceremony on Monday. It will help instil awareness among its pupils and staff on the importance of recycling items to save the environment. In her speech, the headmistress, Pn Hjh Jamaiyah reminded the pupils especially to use the recycle bins correctly. It is important to reduce, reuse and recycle. Hopefully, teachers and pupils will bring recyclable items from homes to be collected in the different bins. The three members of the Anak Perak PPD LMS ICT Team received a token of appreciation for participating in the ICT Competition entitled, "Waste Disposal Affects The Environment".

Logging

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A gum tree (eucalyptus) being felled. Dated to c. 1884-1917, Australia.

Logging is the process in which certain trees are cut down for forest management and timber.

In forestry the term logging is sometimes used in a narrow sense concerning the logistics of moving wood from the stump to somewhere outside the forest, usually a sawmill or a lumber yard. In common usage however the term may be used to indicate a range of forestry or silviculture activities. For example the practice of the removal of valuable trees from the forest has been calledselective logging, sometimes confused with selection cut.[1]

Illegal logging refers to what in forestry might be called timber theft.[2] [3]

In common usage what is sometimes called clearcut logging is not is necessarily considered a type of logging but a harvest or silviculture method and is simply called clearcutting or block cutting. In the forest products industry logging companies may be referred as logging contractors.

Logging usually refers to above-ground forestry logging. Submerged forests exist on land that has been flooded by damming to create reservoirs. Such trees are logged using underwater logging or by the lowering of the reservoirs in question. Ootsa Lake andWilliston Lake in British Columbia, Canada, are notable examples where timber recovery has been needed to remove inundated forests.

This is a photo of my friends and I at the Taiping Sentral . We took part in the S-I-R CHALLENGE(Spell-It- Right) . We just managed to enter Round Two. However, we got a lot of experience in this competition. We also had a lot of fun . I would like to thank Madam Oon because she had brought us to this competition. We had learnt a lot of new words too.
